Questions and answers
Frequently Asked Questions
What is Specko?
Specko is a mobile app for doctors and residents in Croatia. It brings every residency tender and its results into one place, and gives residents new articles, clinical guidelines, congresses and courses for their specialty, plus the rules of residency training.
Why use Specko?
There is no single place where every residency tender is published: most are in Narodne novine, some only on the job board and hospital sites, and the candidate lists and decisions only on the institutions' own pages. Specko gathers them for you, so your time goes into choosing the tender that suits you, not finding it. And once you are a resident: medicine keeps evolving, and new ideas are most often heard at congresses and professional meetings. So Specko brings you the latest articles and clinical guidelines for your specialty, and the congresses and courses where you can hear and exchange them.
Who is Specko for?
For doctors of medicine, doctors of dental medicine, pharmacists and medical biochemists looking for a residency, and for those who have already started one. Tenders can be filtered by profession, specialty and county.
Where do the tenders come from?
We follow Narodne novine (the official gazette), the Croatian Employment Service's job board, the Ministry of Health, the sites of KBC Zagreb, Sestre milosrdnice, Rijeka, Split and Osijek and of KB Merkur, Dubrava and Sveti Duh, and the notice boards of more than 40 health institutions. A tender published in several places is shown once, with a link to the original posting.
How often are tenders updated?
We check the sources every two hours during the day, so a new tender appears in the app the day it is published.
How do alerts work?
Choose the specialties, professions or counties you care about, or every tender, and you get an alert the moment a new tender is out. You can also follow a tender, and we will tell you when its candidate list, interview invitation, decision or cancellation comes out. Residents get an alert with the weekly and monthly literature digest, and as soon as new clinical guidelines that change practice appear.
Is the points calculator official?
No. It estimates your points under the rulebook for admitting residents (NN 94/2026) from what you enter; the official points are set by the institution's committee. Everything you enter stays on your device.
Where do the tender results come from?
From the candidate lists institutions publish after a tender. From them we show how many applied for each place and how many points the last place took, by criterion and before and after the interview, and once you enter your points in the calculator, you see which tenders would have got you the residency. Candidates' names are never shown. Results exist for tenders published from 3 September 2026.
What does Specko offer residents?
A channel for your specialty: the latest articles from PubMed, Croatian journals and health agencies, each with a short summary and a Croatian translation a tap away, with daily, weekly, monthly and yearly digests; the clinical guidelines from the last 90 days, each tagged with the organisation that published it; congresses and courses with HLK and EACCME credits in one calendar; and a guide to your rights and duties under the residency rulebook, with your programme's rotation schedule.
Who writes the article summaries?
An AI model writes them from the publication's own abstract, and the app labels them as such, with a link to the original article. The Croatian translation is machine-made too, and labelled so. They point to the source and are not medical advice; read the publication itself before relying on anything in it.
How much does Specko cost?
The first 7 days are free, with no payment details needed. After that, Specko Pro is €7.99 a month and includes everything: tenders, the map, alerts, the points calculator, tender results, articles, clinical guidelines, congresses, courses and the residency guide.
How do I cancel my subscription?
At any time, in the App Store or Google Play settings on your device. You keep access until the end of the period you paid for.
Do I need an account?
No. Tenders, the calculator and the content for residents work without one. You only need an account to save articles, guidelines and events and have them on all your devices.
Is Specko an official app of the Ministry or the hospitals?
No. Specko is an independent app that collects publicly published tenders and data. The original posting is always what counts, so check its terms and deadline before you apply.
Which devices does Specko run on?
iPhone and Android, in Croatian and English. Download it from the App Store or Google Play.
